Snack items...Puttu and Sundal...

Sometimes first trial doesnt turn out good, but surprisingly this puttu turned out very good for the first time I made with Jaggery.
Recipe for Puttu:
* Soak yellow moong dhaal and open boil and filter the water.
* Add little 1.5 cups puttu powder to 1 cup water and mix well with fork.
* It will be wet, close lid for 10mins
* Then split it with hand few mins and steam it in idli vessel for 10mins
* Melt 1 cup jaggery with little water in stove and boil just few mins (do not crystalize)
* Turn of jaggery in stove, let it rest 2 mins, add the clear portion to puttu, leaving dust particles
* Add ghee to tava, roast cashews and add elachi and coconut or just add elachi, coconut, ghee to puttu
* Mix all of the above. Initially it will be wet, later it will split and it tastes really yummy!

Recipe for Sundal:
* Soak Chick peas overnight and pressure cook with salt. Filter the water.
* Add oil to tava, add mustard seeds and lots of asafotedia, curry leaves.
* Add ground g.chillies and ginger paste and cook for few minutes
* Add the cooked chick peas and add coconut.

Kale Pesto

Tried this with Spinach as well, turned good. Those of you who like cheese, U could add it to the blender while adding the greens. I dont like the raw smell of garlic so ended up boiling it.

* Boil in water - kale, g.onions, g.chillies and few garlic
* Dry roast pine nuts, add it to food processor first and crush it so it is coarse
* Then add the greens leaving the water (U could use that water to cook pasta)
* add salt, lemon juice and olive oil. Blend well.

Then U could saute it with pasta or egg scramble, by adding fresh ground pepper.
